Ghanaians list top contributors to national development since independence

As Ghana marks her 62nd Independence Anniversary, there is the need for citizens to remember those who have played key roles to free the nation from its colonizers.

The road to Independence started several decades ago, before Dr. Kwame Nkrumah ultimately made that famous declaration.

But since then, there have been many others who have directly and indirectly contributed to Ghana’s development.

Although the ‘Big Six’ are often the most celebrated leaders when it comes to Ghana’s history, many more people have since continued from where they left off.

So as we celebrate Ghana’s 62nd Independence Anniversary, YEN.com.gh put up to post to solicit the views of Ghanaians on which persons they think have played key roles in the country’s development since Independence.

Majority of the responses had Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in there, but there were also a couple who named some of Ghana’s recent leaders.

Below are some of the interesting reasons Ghanaians gave for their choices;

Hussein Abdul singled out Nkrumah and Jerry Rawlings for their efforts.

Ebenezer believes Anas Aremeyaw Anas has played a key role in the development of Ghana.

Ekow believes every Ghana deserve an accolade.

Aaron says the Ghanaian farmer deserves special mention.

And yeah! Counselor Lutterodt got a vote from Prince.
