Final year student at GIJ arrested for rigging elections

A final year student of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) has been arrested after it emerged that he rigged students' representative elections in the school.

After he allegedly attempted to stuff a ballot box during a poll to elect new executives of the Students Representative Council (SRC) on Friday, April 26, 2019, a final year student at the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) has been arrested.

Reports available to YEN.com.gh via Graphic.com.gh, bbservers at the election grounds, the GIJ campus, were alerted to the illegal action of the student after he spent more than five minutes in a voting booth.

According to an eyewitness, he was busted removing already thumb printed ballot papers from a secret compartment in his belt.

He had reportedly thumb printed 19 ballot papers for one candidate and was placing all the papers in the ballot box when observers were alerted to his actions.

He was arrested by a policeman at the scene.

Meanwhile, in what may be described as a bombshell, Gloria Akuffo, Ghana's Attorney General and Minister of Justice, revealed in an interview with Joy FM that some of her romantic relationships while growing up was with some other people's husbands.

In the surprising revelation, Akuffo answered radio host Lexis Bill's question about the fatherhood of her children: "They were some people's husbands".

The government's top lawyer said for a young woman growing up in an environment where polygamy was not necessarily frowned upon, she found nothing wrong with her choice.
