Cock crows as MTN mobile money scammer tries duping victim (Video)

A scammer, in the process of defrauding an innocent MTN subscriber has been exposed by his own cock which crowed during their conversation.

An MTN mobile money scammer has been exposed by a cock in an attempt to defraud an unsuspecting subscriber.

In the video seen by YEN.com.gh, the scammer identified the man’s name as Prince Akuffo in a bid to convince him that he worked with MTN.

He said he had called from the MTN office to help him solve an issue with his mobile money.

He was informing his victim on the steps to take to rectify a mobile money issue.

But in the middle of the conversation, a cock crowed in the background alerting the victim that the man was not speaking from an office.

So from which MTN office does a cock crow?” the subscriber asked the fraudster.

Now aware he has been caught, the scammer couldn’t help but laugh causing the innocent man to also laugh and end the call.

Given the cock’s crow, it could be that the conversation was ongoing in the morning. But for the cock, the man could have been outsmarted and defrauded.

Meanwhile, mobile money fraud has become rampant these days with the scammers using all forms of strategies to rob their victims.

People who have shared their experiences with YEN.com.gh tell of how they had been defrauded of huge sums of money.

One woman named Mrs. Deborah Thompson, for instance, said she had a call from an unknown number that her son had fallen sick at school suddenly and had been taken to the hospital.

The caller claimed that the doctor had asked for an amount of GHC300 cedis to start the treatment before even the mother could go to the hospital.

Mrs. Thompson fell for the trick and sent the money to the fraudster.

No sooner had she transferred the money than her son arrived home from school. When she tried calling the number, it had long been switched off.
