A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, has called for a stop to the planned construction of a new Parliamentary chamber.
According to him, selling the idea to Ghanaians would be a challenge and for that reason, there is a need to halt the project and revisit it in future.
Sharing his opinion on Facebook, a social media platform, Otchere-Darko argued that though the facility, if constructed, will add to Ghana's national monuments and provide MPs with a better working environment, it is not a pressing need.
YEN.com.gh understands that the 450-seater chamber to be constructed by the architectural firm, Adjaye & Associates is estimated to cost the state $200million.
The opinion held by a cross-section of Ghanaians is that the project is an extravagant venture and Ghana needs to redirect resources into better areas.
Meanwhile, after years of beating down the odds, a young man from a relatively poor background is the latest Ghanaian to graduate with Masters degree from the Harvard University.
Mac Sarbah has inspired many young people after he made headlines as the latest Ghanaian to graduate with a Masters degree from the Harvard University.
He took to his Facebook page to express gratitude to all who supported him throughout this journey after graduating on May 30, 2019.
