Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko shares his opinion on new chamber

- Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has called for a stop to the proposed construction of a Parliamentary chamber

- According to him, it would be difficult to sell the idea to Ghanaians

- He further noted that though the facility may benefit the nation, it is not a pressing need

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, has called for a stop to the planned construction of a new Parliamentary chamber.

According to him, selling the idea to Ghanaians would be a challenge and for that reason, there is a need to halt the project and revisit it in future.

Sharing his opinion on Facebook, a social media platform, Otchere-Darko argued that though the facility, if constructed, will add to Ghana's national monuments and provide MPs with a better working environment, it is not a pressing need.

YEN.com.gh understands that the 450-seater chamber to be constructed by the architectural firm, Adjaye & Associates is estimated to cost the state $200million.

The opinion held by a cross-section of Ghanaians is that the project is an extravagant venture and Ghana needs to redirect resources into better areas.
