Veteran actress Kumiwaa narrates how she spent one year in jail over drugs trafficking

- Veteran actress Kumiwaa has revealed that she spent over a year in jail in the US over drug trafficking

- According to Kumiwaa, she was framed up by some guys who had taken her to the US under the guise of shooting a movie with her

- But unknown to her, the guys put an amount of cocaine in her luggage which got her busted

- She made the revelation during an appearance on Nana Ama McBrown's McBrown's Kitchen cooking show

Ghanaian Veteran actress, Naomi Kumiwaa Banafo, has revealed how she was detained for a year in prison in the United States in 2012 for possessing drugs.

According to Kumiwaa, she was nabbed by airport security after some men she was travelling with had put cocaine in her luggage without her knowledge.

Speaking with actress Nana Ama Mcbrown on her McBrown's Kitchen, Kumiwaa revealed that she was contacted by some men for a production in the United States of America.

After the security in one of the airports in the United states conducted a search on her that she got to know the guys had deposited cocaine in her hand bag.

Kumiwaa stated that the guys were nowhere to be found after she told the security personnel that she was in the company of two young men.

” I was in shock when it dawned on me that the guys had used me for their dubious ways. I was placed in jail and made to report in court once every month. After one year and a month, I reported to court and I was told that investigations conducted revealed that I was actually innocent and will be sent to Ghana after a week. I cried my heart out like a baby,” the veteran actress recounted.

Kumiwaa is noted mostly for her role in Key Soap Concert Party and “Things we do for love”.

The veteran actress' appearance comes after that of Wendy Shay. During Wendy Shay's appearance, McBrown spoke German with the singer.
