Ghana makes historic debut; joins 81 countries for global skills competition in Russia

- Ghana would be making history by participating in the WorldSkills Expo scheduled to take place at Kazan in Russia

- The Ghanaian delegation would depart on Monday, August 19, 2019 and return on Thursday, August 29, 2019.

- COTVET teamed up with the Ministry of Education to train the members of the Ghanaian team who would be participating in the event

YEN.com.gh understands that Ghana would join 81 other countries to participate in the 45th WorldSkills Expo to be held at Kazan in Russia.

The event is a historic one for Ghana as it is the first time the country is participating at the event at the global level.

Information available shows that the 27-member Ghanaian team would leave for Russia on Monday, August 19, 2019 and return on Thursday, August 29, 2019.

In an earlier competition held in Kigali, Rwanda, Ghana took part in the WorldSkills Africa competition and put up a sterling performance.

At the national level, Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET) teamed up with the education ministry to train the participants, as it was part of the process to apply for the global competition.

In other news, television host and comedian, Steve Harvey, has revealed there plans to create opportunities in Ghana and change the thought process.

He added that Ghana is home and he is satisfied with all that he has seen since he arrived in the country.

The comedian added that he felt robbed because until now, he had not been able to visit a place he calls home but he is feeling better now.
