Born Odenkey Abbey in 1968, Desailly attained 51 in September 2019.
As the name suggests, he was born to a Ga mother but was adopted and renamed Desailly after his mother got married to the head of the French consulate at the time.
Desailly and his family (white father) left Ghana for France in 1972 when he was less than four years old.
