Derrick Logan, born Derrick Nii Aryee Quaye, a fast-rising and versatile hip hop and afropop recording artiste, has touted his craft as the best in the entertainment industry currently.

According to the burgeoning star, music can only be authentic if you put its expression in terms of the culture from which the genre of music emanates.

In reacting to why many underground artistes fail to make it to the limelight, Derrick Logan stressed that authenticity was the name of the game; a feature or trait many of these young stars lacked.

"If I say my music is authentic, it usually gets determined by its culture in which the real expression of the music is coming from", Derrick Logan said.

"Musicians have struggled for a long time to make a name for themselves amidst listeners’ limited attention spans, and they now must also compete amongst nearly frictionless access to every piece of music ever published.

We have an embarrassment of riches and a dearth of scarcity. To stand out, artistes in the digital age need to find ways to harness authenticity, that is, to demonstrate their own realness and that of their music.

In the past, big stars had (accurately or not) a singular, fixed identity, often as pure punk, rap, heavy metal musician and that identity accounted for their authenticity."

Derrick Logan has raised the bar for most hip hop musicians with current songs. He is known for his energy showcased in his music and performances.
