A San Francisco court has ruled that a black landlady, Anne Kilhagi, must give her $4 million building to her white tenant.
How Africa reports that the judgment was based on the fact that Anne asked the tenant to leave so that her sister can move in.
The same media notes that the law extant in San Francisco gives a landlord the power to recover possession of a rented apartment for the owner or their relatives to occupy.

It should be noted that in 2014, Kihagi bought the building for $2.5 million from the money she managed for her younger sister.
Now a landlady, she could not use the same building to assist her family which prompted her to ask the tenant that was there to vacate the unit.
After the tenant’s eviction, her sister moved in in 2016. Following that, Kihagi did a makeover of the apartment as she increased the value to $4 million.

Meanwhile, it was earlier reported that Mario Salerno, a landlord in Brooklyn waved rent for his 200 tenants, telling them they do not have to bother about paying for the month of April.
The owner of 80 apartments in Williamsburg wrote a note to each of his tenants to inform them about the decision.
It should be noted that even before the generosity became known, some of his tenants were already worried about how they would pay up considering that most of them were out of jobs because of the lockdown.

In an interview with the media, the landlord said: “I told them just relax, don't panic, it's gonna work out.”.
Also worthy of note is that the average rent for a two-bedroom accommodation in the neighbourhood is $2,800. With what he just did, he could be losing about $224,000
In other related news, an American landlord simply identified as Alan has cut his tenant's monthly rent and surprised her with groceries for her family during the coronavirus pandemic.
The tenant, Christina Marie, shared a photo of her landlord's delivery which came after she said she was running out of groceries.
She wrote on Facebook: "My landlord Alan called me earlier and told me not to worry about rent this month and we will worry about it later (sic) I said okay!"
In other news, Francisca Oteng-Mensah, the daughter of Joyce Oteng and Dr Kwaku Oteng, a doctor and businessman who is the CEO of the Angel Group of Companies, is the youngest legislator in Ghana.
She is the member of parliament (MP) for Kwabre East constituency in the Ashanti Region who was awarded as the ninth-best legislator in the year 2019.
Francisca entered parliament after the 2016 elections when she was only 24 years old, by which time she was enrolled in university and in her final year pursuing a LLB at the College of Humanities at the University of Ghana.
