Dr. Prempeh dismissed heightening fears that the country is slipping back into the prolonged period of outages between 2012 and 2016 christened ‘Dumsor’.

There have incessant power cuts in various parts of the country in the past few days—a situation that has left Ghanaians on edge and scared of returning to ‘Dumsor’.

The Ghana Grid Company, (GRIDCo) recently disclosed that it was in talks with ECG and NEDCo to roll out a timetable for power outages across the country.

But the energy minister said during a working visit to GRIDCo on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, that the country has enough generation capacity.

Then followed the bombshell where he asked Ghanaians to be “sincere and truthful” if the recent power fluctuation can be qualified to be ‘Dumsor’.

“This is not a generation problem, this is not about fuel so how can we call it ‘Dumsor’?” he queried.

The energy minister’s remarks rattled Ghanaians on social media who expressed disgust at the minister’s lack of human face.

Ivy Sedor believes appointing Dr. Prempeh as the energy minister was a terrible mistake.

“If Nana Addo has good intentions for this country do you think Doctor would take over energy sector when plenty energy gurus are there,” she said.
Kobby Mens added “Jokers dey wanna country inside, you collapsed our education system and now your paymaster has sent you to collapse the energy sector....Mr Napo they have seen your presidential ambition and they just want to disrupt your credibility…By the way, you're the worst minister in this current NPP administration
