Professor Ransford Gyampo, a senior Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana has stated that the West Africa Senior High School, is the best SHS in West Africa.

While speaking in an interview with Nana Aba Anamoah on Accra-based Starr FM profile show, Professor Gyampo spoke highly about WASS, which happens to be his former school.

He disclosed that his secondary education started from Osu Salem Senior High School in 1988.

He, however, failed to remember the words of the school anthem when he was asked by Nana Aba Anamoah to sing it.

“When I was in WASS I was very small. You know growing up there were people that were small but old. I was smallish and young so there were several things I never took seriously. I think I became a serious student only when I got to the university,” he said.

In recent times, aside from schools' historical name, the National Science and Maths Quiz is a key metric that gives schools bragging rights over others.

The school currently located at Adenta in Accra narrowly lost a final to St Peter's in 2018 which won them the tag "the surprise package" of that year.

Meanwhile, award-winning Ghanaian TV personality and acting general manager of GH One TV, Nana Aba Anamoah, has given a golden opportunity to a security man.

After watching a video of the security man showing off his radio-presenting skills, the GH One star sent him the way of Caleb Boye of Starr FM for assistance.

Nana Aba Anamoah chanced on the video after it was posted on Twitter by a user with the handle "Mike Wil Make It", who explained that they met the young man who told them his story.
