Police in Asikuma Odobeng Brakwa in the Central Region have arrested a couple for allegedly burying their two-year-old son alive, YEN.com.gh has gathered.
Paul Adoba and Maame Atta were reportedly lured into committing the nefarious act by a fetish priestess.
The priestess declared the two-year-old a spirit child because he can neither walk nor talk and had to be killed, Myjoyonline.com reported.
Abubakar Mohammed who is the tenant of the couple saw them burying the two-year-old alive. Recounting the incident, he said the fetish priestess was the one who dug the hole and lowered the child into it at midnight.
“I saw them carrying the child to where the pit was being dug. It was around midnight. It was awkwardly strange and so, I got up to close my window,” Myjoyonline.com quoted him as saying.
The chief of Breman Brakwa, Nana Kofi Hammed, was shocked by the development.
“Even when day old children die, they are not buried like that, let alone burying a child alive. What’s so grievous is that they buried this child close to the mainstream we all depend on,” he stated.
