The Pasadena Police Department in the United States has revealed that British-American actor, model, and TV personality jumped off a bridge in Pasadena, Calif., after a seven-hour exchange with the authorities.

Police Chief Phillip Sanchez in release hinted “It is sad and troubling when an individual has become so despondent that he or she feels their only option is to end their life,” “These incidents can often have a significant impact on the victim’s loved ones, first responders, and the community as a whole. My prayers go out to the family.”

Sarpong dies in a tragic apparent suicide on Monday, Oct. 26.

A witness spotted the former Tommy Hilfiger model early on Monday morning and called the authorities. A team of emergency personnel rushed to the scene, where they reached out to Sarpong via the Department Crisis Negotiation Team.

Sarpong is survived by his sister, June Sarpong, and father, Samuel Sarpong Sr. In addition to being the face of Tommy Hilfiger, Sam was a co-host on MTV’s Yo Momma and an actor with 76 credits to his name.

Shortly after the news broke, Sarpong’s family released a statement, saying, “It is with great sadness that the family of Samuel Sarpong, Jr. must share the news that Sam has passed away. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation and no additional details are known at this time. Information about final arrangements will be forthcoming. The family appreciates the thoughts prayers and other expressions of sympathy, and request their privacy be respected at this extremely difficult time. Samuel Sarpong Jr. is survived by his father Samuel Sarpong Sr., and his sister June Sarpong. Samuel Sarpong was 40 years old.”

In a related development, June Sarpong, a TV presenter and sister of the late Sam Sarpong says the death of her brother is “a loss for the world”.

According to her, Sam was an amazing being.

“I love my brother very much. Sam was an amazing human being. His passing is a loss for the world. I’d ask anyone who is going through tough times to seek help. Please talk to someone. My family and I are in a state of shock, please allow us to grieve in private. Thank you for all your messages of condolence,” she said.

Sam Sarpong, a British-American Hollywood actor, model and TV host died after jumping off a bridge in Pasadena, Calif,.

His first on-screen role came in an episode of Claire Danes’ “My So-Called Life” in 1994. In 2006, MTV cast him as one of its co-hosts for “Yo Momma.”

Among the films he starred in include “Carmen: The Hip Hopera,” “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” and “Anchor Baby.”

The late Sarpong’s other TV credits include “Pacific Blue,” “Family Matters,” “ER,” “Boston Public,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” “Veronica Mars,” “Bones” and “24.
