Four ISD Staff Arrested By EOCO Over GH¢142k Fraud
The Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) has arrested four staff of the Information Services Department (ISD) for alleged illegal withdrawal from the department’s accounts.
According to a report by Accra-based Joy FM, the four include the immediate past Director, Noel Actorn Tetteh, is reported to have allegedly authorized the withdrawal without the authorization of the new Director, Francis Arthur.
The immediate past Director, Noel Actorn Tetteh is on bail and the others who include the Director of Budget, Director of Finance and Administration and a staff are still in the grips of EOCO.
According to the report, the suspects signed cheques amounting to Gh¢ 142, 000 from the department’s coffers without authorization to settle staff allowances.
The new director, Francis Arthur detected the anomaly when he took over and invited the EOCO to investigate the withdrawals during the transition period. Meanwhile, the Deputy Communications Minister Ato Sarpong has said the four have been asked to repay the withdrawn money into the department’s account.
