Dead employee at Lands Commission received GH₵20, 000 salary for two years

Wilfried Kwabena Anim-Odame, the Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission has explained that his outfit was yet to receive an official information regarding a dead employee of the Commission.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) at its sitting on Tuesay, had expressed shock as to how a dead employee of the Lands Commission was able to withdraw salaries amounting to GH¢20, 000.00 for two years.

According to Anim-Odame they were waiting for the family members of the deceased staff to inform the Commission about the death as was the routine concerning dead employees before they wrote to inform the Controller and Accountant General's Department to stop the salary of the dead person.

The Commission was at a loss as to how a dead employee could still receive his salary for two years without any prompt to them.

The Executive Secretary however said, “We normally will write to the Controller and Accountant General’s Department to inform them about the incident,” which was quite an astonishing answer to the Committee.
