YAGSHS student makes history at UG Medical School; sweeps 10 awards

Ellen Boakye, now Dr. Boakye, a former student of Yaa Asantewaa Girls' Senior High School wowed the Medical School of University of Ghana over the weekend.

The new medical doctor swept the board when she carried 10 awards out of a total of 156 awards.

This was during the the Vice-Chancellor’s Academic Award Ceremony held at the Great Hall of the University of Ghana.

The award ceremony, held annually, rewards students who were exceptional during the previous academic year.

And for the 2015/2016 academic year, out of the 156 awards 86 were won by female students including Dr. Ellen Boakye (medical student) who took home the highest number of award (10 awards).

Also 115 prizes were won by graduates, 16 continuing undergraduates and 25 to post-graduate students.

Dr. Ellen Boakye's historic feat bears a striking resemblance to that of Dr Fathia Ayodele Kareem, who last year piled up 12 our of the 14 academics awards given to students who distinguished themselves during their study.
