However, the restaurant staff, wise to his antics, refused to let him slip away.

Police recognise man

In a last-ditch effort, the dine-and-dasher dramatically collapsed, pretending to suffer a heart attack.

Undeterred, the restaurant staff promptly called the police. Alicante National Police officers, well-acquainted with the man's antics, recognised him instantly.

The repeat offender was taken into custody despite his attempts to avoid providing an address.

The police spokesperson confirmed the man's extensive record of arrests, stating,

"He was arrested multiple times in the city of Alicante. The modus operandi was the same."

Man sent to prison

The case has now been handed over to local judicial authorities. Details about the man's fate remain unclear.

The police spokesperson mentioned that he had been sent to prison, but specifics about his sentence's duration or current status are unavailable.

Spanish EFE news agency, citing an officer involved in four previous arrests, disclosed the man had a penchant for ordering extravagant items like lobster, entrecote, and premium whiskeys.

Astonishingly, the officer noted that the repeat offender greeted law enforcement officers with a smile, seemingly indifferent to spending a night or two behind bars.
