JSS Leaver Wrongly Accused by OSP Loses Job, Demands Compensation

  • On July 24, 2024, the Office of the Special Prosecutor published the images and details of some wanted people, and Francis Asare was part of them
  • Franis Asare, a Junior High School (JHS) graduate, reported to the Special Prosecutor's office only to find out he had been mistaken for someone else

Francis Asare, a Junior High School graduate, claims he has lost his job after the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) wrongly accused him of a crime and published his image on some media platforms.

Francis Asare said he got scared when he saw his image on social media as a wanted person. He then View on sitecalled his brother to accompany him to the Special Prosecutor's office.

In a message he sent to Crime Check Ghana, Francis said when they arrived at the Special Prosecutor's office, he was told his identity had been mistaken for another person.

However, his employers had fired him because of the publication. Francis said he has not been the same after losing his job and pleaded for help.

"On 24 July 2024, Rainbow radio posted my picture on social media, saying I am wanted by the Special Prosecutor. I was afraid, so I called my brother to take me there. We went there, and they said it was a mistake and that I was not the right person. Fidelity Bank gave them the wrong information. Because of that, I lost my job, and I went through a mental problem too. Please, I really need your help, please".

YEN.com.gh reported that a former Speaker of Parliament had criticised the Special Prosecutor over bail conditions imposed on Martin Kpebu.
