"I have been in a relationship with my girlfriend for four years. We have been doing many things together. We loved each other so much, but last month we broke up. She is now dating my big brother. Since I still love her, what can I do to bring her back? Please advise me accordingly."
Jane Murimi Mugo is a relationship and marriage expert who started her counselling journey 12 years ago after realising that moulding children from a tender age is very important. This is because taming them as teenagers or when they become young adults may be tricky. Additionally, she is a teacher, poet, choreographer, and playwright. Murimi is the author of Caged, a book addressing the plights of the boy child and the way forward. She is currently working on a book on mental health, mainly targeting boys and men.
Not a good idea to date siblings
Sharing her opinion, Murimi said the lady could be having an interest in something the family has that is why she has the guts to date siblings.
"There is more than meets the eye. Remember the guy is talking of how they shared a lot for the four years they were together . Meaning the memories of those things will never fade and so he won't allow his big bro to be with this woman for as long as he lives. It's obvious that there are a number of consequences should the lady go ahead and get married to the brother," the mother of two said.
She urged the lady to trade carefully, saying her actions may affect her ex, who might end up doing something bad.
Blood is thicker than water
Murimi said the man would certainly sink into depression, asking him to have a sit down with his brother and discuss the woman's actions.
"If I were him, I would look for bro for siblings talk. Reason out together. Discuss this woman who has the guts to date siblings. I will share with him the things we did together," she advised.
She continued:
"I mean, I will convince him that she's after destroying both of us. There is no love in that relationship. Hope the big brother isn't such a dupe."
