Cole Palmer scored an impressive four goals in the first half as Chelsea thrashed Brighton 4-2 at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues went behind early on, but the England international produced a historic performance to secure the three points for the London club.

After the game, several players signed the match ball, with Palmer's teammate Romeo Lavia leaving a cheeky comment.

Georginio Rutter’s early opener threatened to ruin the day for Chelsea. However, Palmer and the hosts responded brilliantly with unanswered goals in the first half.

Nicolas Jackson set up his first goal in the 21st minute before he stepped up to buy a penalty following a foul on Jadon Sancho.

He completed a superb hat-trick in the 31st minute with a sensational free-kick, but Carlos Baleba scored for Brighton to put the scoreline at 3-2.

However, Palmer put the result beyond doubt with his fourth in the 41st minute. None scored in the second half.

Lavia taunts Palmer

Palmer took the match ball with some of his teammates, who had left their signatures. Lavia, who replaced Enzo Fernandez in the 79th minute, left a cheeky comment.

He shared a photo on his Instagram story with the ball and a comment that read, "You're a mid player regardless," followed by the comment, "There you go."

Palmer has made another superb start to the season. He has now scored six Premier League goals in six matches. He is on track to match last season's tally of 22 goals, per Transfermarkt.

"I should have had five or six! When I missed the first chance I was upset but with the way they played and their high line I felt we'd get more chances," Palmer said after the match per GOAL.
"Yeah, for sure, when you score four goals. I just said to Cole he scored four, but he could have scored two or three more. It is important he continues to be hungry and ambitious," Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca said, via Football London.

Oliseh lauds Cheslea

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that former Nigeria international Sunday Oliseh praised Chelsea after their win over Brighton.

Oliseh could not hide what he saw from the London side today. He analytically applauded their performances so far this season and predicted a big future for the team.
