Security Guard Kills Arsenal Fan in Uganda After Manchester United Defeat

The life of an Arsenal fan in Uganda was ended tragically by a security guard following their win over Manchester United on Wednesday, November 4.

The incident happened in Lukaya Town Council in Kalungu District just after the final whistle of the Premier League encounter.

The Gunners scored two corners to inflict a fourth straight defeat on the Red Devils and a first on Ruben Amorim.

Arsenal fan killed in Uganda

According to the Daily Monitor, John Ssenyonga lost his life at the Africa Restaurant after a private security guard opened fire shortly after the match ended. Another fan was also injured in the incident.

The report adds that chaos ensued after the restaurant switched off electricity following Arsenal's second goal, which sparked wild celebrations. Gunners fans were not pleased with the decision.

According to the BBC, the guard was asked to intervene to restore calm, but the fans did not heed the warning. The guard then fired several bullets.

A regional police spokesman, Twaha Kasirye, said they had recovered the cartridge from the scene.

"These are mere games played thousands of miles away and shouldn't cause discontentment among people who live and sometimes work together," Kasirye said via the Daily Monitor.

Premier League matches have a huge following in Uganda. It has resulted in violence, causing injuries and death in the last few years. In October, an Arsenal fan stabbed a Man United fan after the Arsenal vs Liverpool clash, per BBC.
