1. Taking Over - Shatta Wale ft. Joint 77, Addi Self and Captan

Released quite early this year, this song still holds much sway and still the toast of party goers anywhere in Ghana.

Play it anywhere and you will get people jumping onto the dance floor.

The fact that it has over 5.4 million YouTube views as at now should tell you how popular the song.

2. One Corner - Patapaa Amisty

This is the most viral song for 2017 and it came from a then unknown Swedru-based artiste.

Popularised by its accompanying dance, this song transcended the shores of Ghana and instantly made the artiste, Patapaa a fan favourite.

Though the whole one corner craze has lost some steam, it sure qualifies to be here.

3. Sponsor - Ebony

Female Dancehall star, Ebony seems to have taken the music scene by storm with hits upon hits it's year.

But there is no denying that this is the biggest of them of all.

Whether it's her often controversial stagecraft or the lyrics of the song, Sponsor has been liked by music lovers since it was released and they are yet to reject it

4. Bronya - Wutah

After almost 10 years as solo artistes, music duo Wutah needed a very catchy song to make their reunion meaningful and aptly brought Bronya.

This song, which's title translates as Christmas is perfect for any joyous occassion.

The only problem, however, is that, it should have been released somewhere in November to make it the 'official' X'mas song.

5. Obi Agye Obi Girl - Captain Planet ft. Kofi Kinaata

Captain Planet after taking a break from the 4x4 group laboured to produce a hit track and his labour seem not to have been in vain.

Currently the hottest track in Ghana, the song gets popular by the day and has already spawned some interesting covers including one mocking Bukom Banku over his defeat to Bastie Samir.

It's easy to sing and teasing lyrics will ensure that your dance floor is full anytime you play it.

6. Total Cheat - Fancy Gadam ft. Sarkodie

Fancy Gadam literally won the 2017 VGMAs new artiste of the year without a very known song in areas other than the North.

Total Cheat, however, changed that and brought him a truly national hit.

With King Sark on it, you sure know it will be a very good song and it is.

7. Pain Killer - Sarkodie ft Runtown

Sarkodie released a number of hit tracks in 2017 but this one surely tops them all.

Another one of the very good Ghana-Naija collaborations, it was interesting to hear Runtown singing some few lines in Twi.

With a theme on relationship, the song has been popular all year round.

8. Odo - KiDi

This song from the new kid on the block, KiDi has gained attention since its release spurring the upcoming artiste to instant fame.

'Odo' has been so successful that the 24-year-old Lynx Entertainment singer has had to do a remix with such big artiste like Davido and and Mayorkun.

The song would easily qualify as the most played song at Ghanaian weddings 2017 and not even criticisms that the lyrics is childish has affected that.

9. Mama Boss Papa (Yimama) - Lil Win ft Young Chorus

Kumawood actor, Kwadwo Nkansah 'Lil Win' had been frolicking with music with appearances on some of Guru's songs, it is this song which made him a musician in his own right.

Released just days before the 2016 general elections, it rather became a hit track in 2017.

The danceable nature of the song and its accompany hilarious video has endeared music lovers.

10. Angela - Kuami Eugene

A song coming from another new artiste, Kuami Eugene of MTN Hitmaker Season 5 who is also signed onto the Lynx Entertainment.

His song is also popular at wedding ceremonies and has been done very well thus far.

11. Wogb3 J3 K3 (Come from far) - Stonebwoy

2017 has been a very good year for the Bhim Nation boss both as private person and and a music star.

Privately, he got married to his sweetheart, Louisa, musically, he organised the biggest concert of his career. The Ashaiman concert which saw a reported crowd of 50,000 people attending with a star studded artiste list including Shatta Wale.

He also released Wogb3 J3 k3 which still enjoys much love from music fans.

12. Na Wash - Becca

Songstress, Becca is known for releasing very good song and this was no exception.

Featuring Nigerian Dancehall artiste, Patoranking, the song is one of the few to have enjoyed massive popularity all around the year.

The song is very good and cements Becca's position as the topmost female (secular) in the last 10 years.

It is worthy to note that 2017 has been good for upcoming musicians. As you can see, the list is dominated by new artistes.

Readers must also note that Nigerian songs like 'If' and 'Fall' by Davido, Mad Over You by Runtown and many others were hits in Ghana but we decided to limit ourselves to indigenous Ghanaian songs.
