The Metropolitan of the western region is known as the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan and its capital is in Sekondi-Takoradi. The region has three municipalities namely the Nzema East Municipal- capital: Axim, Sefwi-Wiawso Municipal- capital: Wiawso and Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal- capital: Tarkwa.
