Mentioning the name of Reverend Ernest Agyei, John Dramani Mahama reveals that the church has been his source of motivation all through the times of losing the elections and being in opposition.

"I’ve enjoyed strength from the church, throughout my political life, and I thank Rev. Ernest Agyei who brought me to Christ. The Church has been supportive all through, especially after my electoral loss in 2016," the president posted on his Facebook page.

It has been barely two years since Mahama lost the presidency in an overwhelming defeat to his fierce contender and current president of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo.

Ahead of the 2020 elections, there have been wild claims that the defeated former president will be completing his 8-year term by contesting President Akufo-Addo in the polls.

But John Mahama has not stated his full position on whether or not he intends to contest.

In fact, the president insists he will soon issue his response in a clear message. As it stands now, some top members of the NDC including the former minister for Trade, Ekow Spio-Garbrah has expressed interest in contesting the 2020 election and subsequently leading the party.
