St. Augustine's College courses and admission requirements
St.Augustine’s college Cape Coast, is the biggest senior high school in Ghana. Surprisingly, it is the first catholic sponsored institution in the country, specialized in training of male teachers. It has a population of about 1900 male trainees and around 90 working staff.

About the College
St.Augustine’s College Ghana, nicknamed Augusco, was established by the Roman Catholic Church during the year 1935 in Amissano (Near Elmina). Rev.William Thomas Portal was the first patron of the institution who served from 1936 to 1960.Currently,the patron is Rev Matthias Kobina Nketsiah who has served since 2011. Similarly, Fr.Maurice Brendan Kelly was the first dean of the school since 1930s and Mr. Joseph colonel the current dean, having served since 2008.It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of Ghana.
Courses offered at St. Augustine's College
The St. Augustine's College has six departments, each under a particular head of department. They include;
- Language Department –English
- Social Science Department - Geography, history, government and social studies
- Mathematics Department - Core and elective mathematics
- Business Department - Economics, financial accounting, costing accounting and business management
- Culture and physical education Department - Religious and moral education, Christian religious studies, music and Physical Education

Agricultural Science
Students undertaking this take general agriculture as compulsory subject. Similarly, those undertaking General arts 1 and general science can choose elective ICT as a subject.

On the same note, all instructions, programs and also exams are carried in English; therefore, applicants should be proficient in the language.
The St. Augustine's College admission requirements
Due to the tight competition during the admission, students with minimum performances may not be guaranteed acceptance. However, such decisions are made depending with the student’s academic records, and a vacant availability in a particular program. Below are the admission requirements at the St. Augustine's College.
1. One should be a man to join since it is an all- male training institution.
2. One must have passed through West Africa Examination Council Basic Education Exams (BESE) or its equivalent in other countries.
3.Acceptable students should have placements from the Ghana Education Service Computerized school and placement system.
