Ghana Maritime boss Kwame Owusu under fire over 11 air conditioners not enough comment

Ghana Maritime Authority boss, Kwame Owusu has been trending in the news and on social media over the past week.

This follows reports of financial malfeasance on his part which have been circulating online.

The Maritime Authority boss had been alleged to have spent an amount of GHC 10,000 food for eight people after a meeting.

An amount of GHC 135,000 was also allegedly spent on an end of year party at the Luxe Suites Hotel, a company he owns.

He was further accused of installing 11 air conditioners for his official residence which is said to be of just two bedrooms.

But responding to the allegations at a press conference after the reports emerged, Kwame Owusu stated the GHC10,000 lunch was for 17 people and not eight as being reported.

He also stated that the GHC 135,000 party was for 500 people and not 100 as earlier speculated.

On the case of the air conditioners, Owusu stated that though the property he was renovating to become his residence was initially of two bedrooms, it is no more so as it had been improved to five bedrooms.

He also pointed out that if he were to be thorough, he should have had 13 air conditioners fitted and not 11.

“[For] each one of them (places in the house) to have air conditioner will be 13, so the 11 is not even enough and by the way, we don’t put them on all together,” he told newsmen.

However, the Maritime Authority boss' explanations seems to have angered a section of Ghanaians who have torn him to shreds on social media.

In other news, a lady named Rachael has killed herself after allegedly wiping out her own family.

Rachael is said to have stabbed herself in the chest after killing her husband, Nicholas Adetsav and their three children.

The children have been identified as Ngwuavese, Senater and Joshua.
