Young Nigerian man goes mad after withdrawing money from ATM

A young Nigerian man who went to make a withdrawal from an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) has reportedly gone mad.

According to a report by The Vanguard newspaper, the young man, Jeffrey Otite, had gone to an ATM along Okpe Road in Sapele, Delta State at about 6:30 am.

But not long after reaching the place, he started behaving abnormally drawing a massive crowd who wondered what was happening.

The report quoted a source as saying that Jeffrey had come on a motorcycle that morning and "walked into the ATM box and the next thing we saw was Jeffrey shouting on top of his voice.

"He starting pulling his clothes and talking gibberish, that was what attracted passerby to the scene” the man said.

However a young man who simply called himself Onyokpe said Jeffrey had been sick.

"He has this high fever I know his parents has been treating, so I think this is what is worrying him,” he said.

The crowd probably enjoying the show was said to have broken into scream of “Ghana Burger!” Ghana Burger!” another name for 'sakawa boys', while clapping along the chanting.

Jeffrey was later tied up by good Samaritans before his relatives took him away in a blue Toyota Camry.

This incident comes just about three weeks after a young man believed to be an internet fraudster, popularly known in Ghana as 'sakawa' or 'yahoo yahoo' in Nigeria, reportedly gone mad.

The young man, reports suggest, ran mad at his own father's funeral. The father had died just two weeks after the sakawa boy reportedly bought a Lexus jeep for him.

According to one Facebook user, Okan Godswill, who shared a video of the young man's mad episode, the incident happened at Agbior Park Ohovbe Junction in Benin City, the capital of Nigeria's Edo State.
