The dean of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Dr Vladimir Antwi-Danso, has called on the government to support local auto firm, Kantanka Automobile.

Speaking at the event, Antwi-Danso said he was not happy with the Ghana government for purchasing the 100 Toyota cars for the Ghana Police Service.

According to him, the leadership of the police administration should have informed the government to consider purchasing the new vehicles from Kantanka because he had gifted the police service a vehicle earlier

“That is how to help Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo realise his dream of industrialising Ghana and patronising made-in-Ghana goods" Antwi-Danso said.

He suggested that the Volkswagen (VW) should partner with Apostle Kwadwo Sarfo to produce vehicles and also to create employment.

“How do we have cars like the 'Obrempong', 'Onantefuo', etc., and we import Mahindra, Korando, Tata to Ghana. Every year, the government purchases cars, it has already budgeted for. Please, let us turn our attention to these beautiful and durable cars from Kantanka." Antwi-Danso noted.

The senior minister, Yaw Osafo Maafo, in response, gave the assurance that the government would assist Kantanka Automobile with incentives.
