Black stars captain Asamoah Gyan is regarded as one of the richest African footballers.

The Ghanaian gate-crashed the richest African footballers' list when he signed for Al Ain in the United Arab United (UAE) from English side Sunderland in 2012.

He was the highest paid footballer in the UAE Pro League as he was earning $200,000 per week.

He then moved to the Chinese League in 2015 after signing for Shanghai SIPG where he was earning over $250,000 a week.

In 2015, Gyan, showed off his riches by acquiring a $3 million (GHC 15 million) mansion at McCathy Hills affording occupants an airborne view of Accra.

The footballer named his mansion “La Basilica De Baby Jet” and said he would use it as a residential facility.

It is a 3-storey building that can only be described in two words, classy and comfortable with large balconies on each floor directly overlooking the Weija River.

It has elegant floral designs and tiles, luxury linens, pristine décor and a collection of furniture and artifacts from different countries of the world.

La Basilica De Baby Jet has master fitter bedrooms, a swimming pool, a gymnasium, a pub, a cafeteria, a movie room, a snooker bar, several kitchens, self contained boys quarters, automated garages and several living rooms.

Gyan has indicated that he had no regrets buying that mansion.

I don’t regret buying my house, but maintaining my house after retirement is one of the challenges I have right now. I think about it every day. I tell myself that after retirement, I will need to maintain this house. That is why I have to save money and invest well so I can maintain my house. This is one of my challenges.”

Gyan currently plies his trade in the Turkish top-flight for Kayserispor.

News have gone viral that the Black Stars forward is broke after telling the court that he had only GHC 4,000 left in his bank account.
