The family of the late Joseph Miigai Jakperuk, a senior staff of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) who was murdered by unknown assailants, say they suspect foul play in his death.
Jakperuk was on his way to his hometown when the most unfortunate happened. Now, his family says they believe his death was as a result of a contract killing.
MyNewsGh.com reports that in an interview with some members of Jakperuk's family, it was put across that the circumstances surrounding the death of the deputy Distribution Manager of Accra East Region leaves much to be desired.
An initial explanation of armed robbery is not sitting well with the family. They are therefore not ruling out the possibility of contract killing of their relation.
They are calling on the police to ensure that justice prevails in the death of Jinjer
Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Jakperuk was shot dead by unknown assailants at Gbangu in the East Mamprusi District of the Northern Region.
The deputy Distribution Manager was traveling to his hometown in the Bunkpurugu District when he was stopped by the hoodlums in the night.
According to the report, the unknown men assailants, after barricading the road with pieces of wood, pulled Jakperuk out of his cross country vehicle and shot him to death.
Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr. Mohammed Yusif Tanko confirmed the incident a while ago failed to give further details.
