Celebrated Ghanaian movie producer, Leila Djansi, has revealed that she escaped being raped four times before she turned the age of 18.
The award-winning producer and director made the disclosure on her Facebook page in the wake of Kuukuwa Andam, a US-based Ghanaian legal practitioner accusing the current Ghana Bar Association President, Anthony Forson Jnr of sexually assaulting her.
Djansi wrote: “Yep. Escaped rape 4 times before I turned 18 in Ghana. Are Ghanaian men are rapists or do they not understand sex, love and relationships?”
She added: that “In a society where a woman is deemed property, it’s not surprising they believe they can take anyone they want."
"Widowhood rites, dipo rites, witches camps, female mutilation, trokosi….a violation of the life and body of women in the name of religion or culture has plagued the society for generations!"
Djansi is of the opinion that African men have no respect for women. The producer characterises the African woman as a second-class person of a sort in our society.
And that since most Africans believe that women must be married or she is not complete, a bunch of ignorant women have given agency to the "male exploitation agenda".
In another news, YEN.com.gh has gathered that the Ho District Police Command has rescued a 17-year-old senior high school student after she was kidnapped by some persons for a day or so.
