1. Public Holiday

Every 6th March is declared a public holiday where workers and students alike are made to take the day off to mark our Independence Day.

4. Independence Day Parade Independence

The security personnel show off their arsenal to the amazement of the crowd who gather at the parade grounds and to those who are watching from the comfort of their homes. School children and many government institutions also showcase their marching skills for honors.

Many students cannot wait just to show off their skills on the parade grounds and to make themselves, their school and the nation proud.

5. Communal Labor and the spirit of independence

Due to the fact that every 6th March is a public holiday, many communities use it as an opportunity to come together for communal labor. General clean-up exercises are organized which are followed by fun games and lots to eat and drink.

Some people also use the day to organize inter-community games where talents are showcased and the best communities walk away with trophies and other goodies.

Some people also use the period to show love to the less-privileged in the society by embarking on donation visits to prisons, orphanages and hospitals.
