5. Communal Labor and the spirit of independence

Due to the fact that every 6th March is a public holiday, many communities use it as an opportunity to come together for communal labor. General clean-up exercises are organized which are followed by fun games and lots to eat and drink.

Some people also use the day to organize inter-community games where talents are showcased and the best communities walk away with trophies and other goodies.

Some people also use the period to show love to the less-privileged in the society by embarking on donation visits to prisons, orphanages and hospitals.
