Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy detained in police cells overnight over clash at VGMA 2019 (video)

Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy spent the night of Sunday, May 19, 2019, in police cells, can report.

According to information gathered by, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy were invited by the police over their clash on stage at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA 2019) on Saturday, May 18.

The arrest of the two has been confirmed by the director of operations at the Greater Accra regional police command DSP Kwesi Ofori who explained that the two were going help in investigations.

In a video sighted by on the night of their detention, DSP Ofori explain that "for now, the matter is under investigation and the police are of the view that they might need them tomorrow for further investigations."

Speaking on the probable charges against the two, the police chief stated that: "it cuts across of things. One, the video clip is being studied and witnesses are also being spoken to and statements being obtained from them. "

"At the end of the day, the police might be in a better state of mind as to the exact charges to prefer," he added.

As earlier reported by, there was chaos at after followers of Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale clashed.

Stonebwoy had been called on stage to receive the Reggae-Dancehall Artiste of the Year award beating Shatta Wale, samini, and others.

Unexpectedly, Shatta Wale who was seated in the crowd decided to show up on the stage during Stonebwoy's speech.

While Shatta Wale's motive was not known he was resisted and it turned into a very chaotic situation bringing the whole programme to a halt for considerable length of time.

And Stonebwoy even pulled a gun as the security people tried to bring the situation under control.
