Mrs Gyan Baffour-Mensah, the mother of Gyan and his elder brother Baffour, a former national team striker himself, died in a ghastly motor accident in Accra November 2012.

Today, November 5, 2019, being exactly seven years since her death, Gyan took to social media to remember her.

Sharing a photo on Instagram, Gyan expressed mixed feelings. While he felt sad for the passing of his mother, he also expressed pride in the fact that he was making his mother proud.

"Today is exactly 7 years we lost you mum. I know you resting well and also proud of me. I will keep making you proud. RIP mum ❤️❤️❤️," he wrote.

Gyan's post has drawn sad reactions from his followers on Instagram.
