A viral video has surfaced showing a young man who tried to buy a quality but highly affordable phone from Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra but was sold a stone instead.

In the video sighted by YEN.com.gh on Instagram, the young man was looking very sad as some men who appear to be living around came to console him.

According to the young man, he attempted to buy the phone at GHC 100.00. The two men who were commiserating with him found it ridiculous and asked why he would attempt to buy such an expensive phone at such a price.

It is thinkable that the young man, whose name remains unknown, thought it was a 'connection phone' and could, therefore, be sold so cheaply.

Connection phone is a term normally used to describe mobile phones that were acquired illegally especially through theft.

Such phones are sold at ridiculously cheap prices because not much was spend in acquiring them.

The problem with buying such items is, the sellers use smart ways to swindle the customers, as they know there wouldn't be any law enforcement agencies involved.

Any swindled customer who calls the police for being duped would face the law themselves as they would be accused of trying to patronize stolen goods.

The item that was sold to the young man was a nicely wrapped stone in a beautiful phone case. The victim was told not to worry because he did not pay too much to buy it.

"He should have known not to attempt buying such a good phone at that price, anyway" was the impression he was given.
