Brave frontline policewoman honoured with the police of the year award

A woman has been rewarded for her services in protecting the nation. Mapaseka Maketekete's tireless work in making the lives of South Africans easier has seen her honoured with the police of the year award.

Disemelo Maketekete took to social media to honour her sister Mapaseka. She shared her sibling's achievements on the #ImStaying Facebook group. Mapaseka was given the award for her many contributions to bettering the lives of others.

She is an advocate for the deaf and her dream is to see more people learning sign language. She is in involved in community outreach projects and does anti-substance abuse campaigns in schools.

Her proud sister shared photos of the award along with a sweet message:

"Congratulations Sergeant Maketekete, we are proud to have you in our country"

Social media users also joined in praising the police officer for her incredible contribution to the country. Facebook user Diane Salters said:

"What a role model."

Nomakhosi Ntombini said:

"So proud of her."

Ruth Todd said:

"Congratulations on your award. Well done."

"Such good news to hear your sister cares for the deaf people! My husband is now completely deaf, hearing been going down for almost 20 years and now gone.... Meanwhile, Brommon, one of Ghana's lifestyle brands that specialise in custom-made suits, has introduced its face masks amid the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

A report sighted by YEN.com.gh on Pulse.com.gh indicates that the masks are specially made non-washable and cost GH¢120 each.

Explaining what makes the mask relatively expensive as compared to the average ones on the market, the designer explains that the products are unique and vary in pattern, a design strategy that could aid in complimenting different looks.
