Barbara Tommey, the Ghanaian lady who was killed by her pastor husband, Sylvester Ofori, in the United States (US), refused to report threats on her life to the police, a close friend has revealed.
According to the friend, Dr Bernard Taylor, Tommey was reluctant to report her husband to the authorities because she did not want to jeopardise his stay in the US.
Tommey was killed by her husband, Pastor Ofori, who is the head of Floodgates of Heaven International Ministries in Orlando in the United States.

As earlier reported by YEN.com.gh, Orlando police indicated that the shooting happened on September 8, 2020, outside the Navy Federal Credit Union branch where Tommey worked.
The circumstance of the death of the 27-year-old by her husband of five years has sent shockwaves across social media.
From the accounts of some of the people who know Tommey and her husband, the marriage had been a toxic one with Ofori exhibiting violence and issuing threats on the life of Tommey.
Tommy's elder sister, in an interview with Kofi TV, confirmed that the marriage had virtually collapsed and Ofori had even tried to strangle her sister just a day before he shot her.
With these regular threats, many are those who are wondering why the deceased did not take the matter to the police.
In a statement sighted by YEN.com.gh, Dr. Taylor who seems to have been very close to the deceased revealed that he had advised Tommey to get a restraining order from a court against Ofori.
She refused because she feared any such action will negatively affect Ofori's application for a US citizenship or even get him deported.
But barely 12 hours after refusing to act on the advice after being nearly strangled, Ofori followed her to her workplace and shot her.
"I told Barbara on Monday evening to report Sylvester to the Police for a “COURT RESTRAINING ORDER” against him after He choked her on Sunday, if not the intervention from her brother, she was gonna die on that day.......also with so many death threats from him.
"She said “Papa,he doesn’t have his citizenship yet; hence I do not want to hurt him; they may revoke it”.....and bla bla bla.
"Now, He kills her in less than 12 hours afterwards. Such is life! Sometimes, the people you are sympathizing with; caring for & being so generous toward may be the very ones to kill you if care is not taken."
For Taylor, it was Tommey's kind heart and thoughtfulness that had led to her unfortunate fate.
He thus advised anybody in an abusive relationship to leave or inform the police before their partner kills them.
"IF YOU ARE IN AN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP; get out of it before the beast kills you. Please go to the police now! Don’t waste any more time. You may never know what He/She is planning. Don’t cut short your life in the name relationship. LEAVE! LEAVE!
"God’s Will is not for you to DIE before your time. Be wise & walkout! #JusticeForBarbara #RIP."
Dr. Taylor's statement was posted on Facebook by Innocent Martha, a marriage and relationship coach on September 10, 2020.
Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh has reported that Tommey's family has announced the details for her burial.
According to the elder sister, the family has decided to lay the deceased to rest on Saturday, September 26, 2020.
