He reportedly built the house about 15 years ago when his bank was thriving as one of Ghana’s best-performing banks.

YEN.com.gh is keenly following up on this new development and we will inform our cherished readers when new information comes up.

Meanwhile, Amoabeng, a former military officer, has been in the news for controversial reasons in recent times.

His bank collapsed in 2017 after it was declared insolvent by the central bank. It was then absorbed by the Ghana Commercial Bank together with all of its customers.

The bank was described as one whose liabilities exceeded its assets. It reportedly owed about 11 billion cedis in unpaid loans. The same was reported of Capital Bank owned by Pastor Mensah Otabil, but which also collapsed.

The UT Bank reportedly plunged into its financial crisis when it gave out huge sums of loan to Ibrahim Mahama, a junior brother of former president Mahama, to start a business.

Amoabeng has constantly said he has not regretted giving that loan to Mahama.

He was in the news recently when he was dragged into a social media fight by his former girlfriend Mzbel and Afia Schwarzenegger.

According to Afia, Mzbel begged her to sleep with Kofi Amoabeng to help her raise money to look after her son.

Mzbel denied this accusation and apologised to Kofi Amoabeng.
