Following an intervention by President Nana Akufo-Addo, Amoaning is to have his university education in the United Kingdom (UK).
Not long after WAEC released the result of the 2020 WASSCE, Amoaning's brilliant performance appeared on online media platforms.
In a video sighted on Graphic.com.gh, the boy narrated how he had to walk six kilometres from his home at Asuaba to attend classes at Adeiso SHS every school day.
Despite the odds, Amoaning who offered General Arts scored As in the eight subjects he sat for in the WASSCE namely English Language, Mathematics (Core), Integrated Science, Economics, Geography, Government and Mathematics (Elective).
His challenge after passing getting the ultimate in WASSCE was how he was going to realise his dream of pursuing a degree in Economics from the University of Ghana.
After coming across the story of Amoaning, Akufo-Addo directed the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat (GSS) to offer the boy a scholarship.
Following a meeting with Amoaning's family and a review by the GSS, the dream of studying at the University of Ghana has been upgraded.
A letter from the GSS sighted by YEN.com.gh has revealed that the head of education at the Ghana High Commission in the UK has been contacted to start processes to get Amoanin admitted into a school there.
Amoaning's scholarship to the UK will include full tuition, accommodation, monthly stipends. return air tickets, health insurance, and other benefits.
