YEN.com.gh earlier reported that at least 6000 security personnel will be deployed for the swearing in of President Akufo-Addo and Dr Mahamadu Bawumia.
They will be sworn in on Thursday, January 7, 2021, for another four-year term in office.
The security personnel will be expected to secure and patrol the entire State House Complex, Accra International Conference Centre, Accra Sports Stadium, and the Black Star Square on the said day.
The Minority in Parliament is however, demanding the immediate withdrawal of some of the deployed security personnel.
In a statement signed by the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, stated that the deployment of security personnel is "a blatant misuse of the national security apparatus to advance narrow parochial partisan interests".
He also mentioned that Akufo-Addo will be held responsible if the security prevents any of its members from performing their duties in the House.
He added that the NDC will continue to resist the mindless assault on the pillars of constitutional democracy.
Haruna Iddrisu stated that the NDC is not by guns and would do everything within their power to resist oppressor’s rule.
In other news, the host of Good Evening Ghana, Paul Adom-Otchere, has done some guesswork of the five people likely to be used as witnesses by John Dramani Mahama in his election petition hearing at the Supreme Court.
As monitored by YEN.com.gh on the Tuesday, January 5, 2021 edition of his show, Adom-Otchere named Asiedu Nketia, Haruna Iddrisu, Dr Kpessa Whyte, Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong and Rojo Mettle Nunoo as possible witness in the election petition case.
Adom Otchere is certain that since Asiedu is the general secretary and has granted more interviews on the petition, he was definitely going to be a witness on the case.
He is convinced Haruna Iddrisu as the Minority Leader with an interest in the Parliamentary situation especially the Techiman South case, would make a perfect cut for Mahama's witnesses.
