A new video of how the family of late former president of Ghana Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings received his body on the first day of his funeral has popped up.

In the video sighted by YEN.com.gh on Instagram, the mortal remains of the former head of state was brought into the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

The former president's body was accompanied by heavy military guards who were dressed in full military regalia as is custom of such an August occasion.

Present at the Accra International Conference Centre for the state burial were family of the former head of state and other chief mourners and sympathizers.

The procession that followed the casket to the AICC included the children of the former president as Kimathi and Zanetor Rawlings were spotted.

Attendees of the state funeral were all made to observe strict COVID-19 protocols as they were all seen in nose masks and keeping their distance from each other.

Still on late former president Jerry John Rawlings's funeral. YEN.com.gh earlier reported that a 52-year-old woman who claims to be called Abigail Rawlings has said she is the daughter of late former president of Ghana.

In a new video sighted on YouTube, the mature woman spoke passionately about her being the child of the late former president of Ghana.

She said her mother is a Togolese who has passed away but before her death, told her daughter that Rawlings was her father.

Madam Abigail Rawlings added that many of former president Rawlings's maternal relatives in their hometown know her and have accepted her into the family.

She however added that for the past 20 years, she has been trying to connect with the other children of the former president but she has always ended up hitting a snag.
