COVID-19: 8 key takeaways from Akufo-Addo's 23rd address to the nation
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Sunday, January 31, 2021, addressed the nation once again on COVID-19 measures put in place.

In the address which happened to be the 23rd since the first one in March 2020, the president made some interesting announcement.
Unfortunately, most people are not adhering to the safety protocols put in place to ensure their own safety and curtail the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

In a bid to ensure things do not get out of hand, Akufo-Addo had to go back to certain decisions he made earlier.

1. Death toll
Akufo-Addo announced that as at Friday, January 29, 2021, 64 more people have died.
2. Increase in daily infection rate
He revealed that the country's average daily rates of infection now stands at 700 as compared to 200 two weeks ago
3. Active cases
The total number of active cases have doubled from a little over 1,900 two weeks ago to 5, 358.
4. Akufo-Addo added that now all 16 regions have active cases.
5. Ban on social gatherings
6. Work places should operate on a shift system
7. COVID-19 testing fee clarified.
8.Government to procure over 17 million vaccines by June 2021.
In other news, Founder and leader of the Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, was spotted wearing two masks at the same time.
This action of his drew a lot of attention as people question why a man of faith like him will do that.
The much revered man of God finally explained why he wore double facemasks at the funeral of former President Jerry John Rawlings.
He disclosed that he received a lot of calls from friends and congregants curious to know if his action had something to do with divine instruction.
Delivering a sermon on Sunday, January 31, 2021, he explained that his decision to double up on the face masks had nothing to do with faith.
