Health practitioners are soldiers who show up to the battlefield in masks, scrubs and white coats.
They hold our hands at our weakest moments, pray with us when our hearts fret and smile with us when we feel better.
A group of nurses in Bakersfield, US, have been deemed as heroes after they sang a woman out of her misery and fear before she was wheeled into the theatre.
The lady was scheduled for surgery but she was afraid.
She did not want to die and was a ball of nerves for a while as she thought of the worst-case scenarios of her surgery.
But Alex Blanca, Alvin Tomas, Dana Tomas and Eilene Pham had her back and new that the best way to calm the patient down was to return to the source, to return to God.
So, the three started singing popular gospel song How Great Thy Art.
With soothing voices, the trio melodiously praised God and said prayers through their song.
“These associates were there to care for this patient's body, but they realized she also needed her mind and soul treated with love. So, they found a beautiful piece of common ground: song,” the hospital’s communication expert Megan Simpson said.
