Allotey Jacobs ditches NDC; says he will never re-join party even if recalled from suspension

- Allotey Jacobs has said he does not wish to be a member of the NDC again

Former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has vowed never to return to the party even if he is recalled.

The NDC in May 2020 suspended Allotey Jacobs for “persistent anti-party conduct”.

The suspension was pursuant to articles 46(1), 46(6), and 46(8) of the party’s constitution.

Speaking to a Radio station based in the newly created Oti Region, Allotey Jacobs said he was not perturbed by the suspension.

“I will never join that party again. I’m even old; I’m getting to 70 years. God has been merciful to me, so why should I worry myself?” he stated.

Away from politics to the devastating coronavirus pandemic, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumuia and his wife Samira have also taken the jab for the COVID-19 vaccine.

They took the jab at the Police Hospital about 30 minutes after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo became the first person to be vaccinated.

Akufo-Addo took the jab for the COVID-19 vaccine with his wife Rebecca at 37 Military Hospital on Monday, March 1, 2021.

Presidential advisor on health, Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare said the president being the first person to take the COVID-19 vaccine jab would assure Ghanaians that the vaccine is safe.

Ghana also signed on to a consignment of the Russian Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine.

The emergency authorization was captured in a press statement by the Russian Government which states the Ghana government had “granted an emergency authorization” of the vaccine.

Ghana has had over 80,000 cases of the virus and over 500 deaths.

In other news, the Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Delese Mimi Darko said Ghana is on the verge of manufacturing her own COVID-19 vaccine.
