A Nigerian family have become the latest house owners in the United States. The Iwujis left the country many years ago for the US with nothing and were even victims of robbery on their arrival. But all that is now in the past.
Celebrating their recent success, a member of the family, Jesse Iwuji, recounted their challenges and how it all began.

Jesse, a US Naval officer, on Linkedln said his dad had brought his mum to the US with zero dollars and worked as a hotel maid.
The US officer stated that his parents had continued with side businesses to support their career jobs in a bid to make ends meet for them and their 4 children.
Jesse went on to describe America as a land of opportunities just as he shared a photo of himself in front of the nice building.
His post read in part:
"My mom used to fetch water from rivers at age 11 to bring home to help provide water for her family in Nigeria. My dad brought her to America from Nigeria with 0 dollars to her name and she was a hotel maid at age 23.
"My dad came to America with barely any money in his pocket and got essentially robbed by a crooked Cab driver immediately when he arrived. But just because you start with nothing, doesn’t mean the rest of life will be nothing.
"After coming to America years ago with nothing, my parents just closed on this house. If you tell me there’s no opportunity in America I’m going to tell you my parents story."
Social media users joined him in his celebration as congratulatory and heart-warming messages poured in. Many shared their migration stories too.

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh earlier reported that a family who left Nigeria for Canada with nothing bought their first house.
In a tweet on Wednesday, January 20, Nonso called his relocation outside Nigeria as a "hard reset", suggesting they were at their lowest low when they did.
Nonso added that they left everything behind with the determination to start a new life in Canada. According to him, at the time they did this, there was no family or friends in their new home country.
