Liverpool keep Champions League hopes alive following historic win over United

- Manchester United vs Liverpool ended in rare 4-2 victory for the Reds at Old Trafford

- Roberto Firmino's brace and a goal apiece from Jota and Salah was enough to seal the win

- Jurgen Klopp's men need to win their remaining three matches to stand a chance of a top-four finish

Liverpool recorded their first win at Old Trafford in seven years following a 4-2 thrashing of Man United in an entertaining Premier League fixture.

Despite going behind earlier on in the match the Reds came back to pull off a stunning win over their fiercest rivals in the English topflight division.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side got on the scoresheet after a Bruno Fernandes' shot was deflected into the by Nathaniel Phillips but it counted for the Portuguese midfielder. 1-0 it was.

Doigo Jota finished off a superb back-heel from a Philipps shot in the 34th minute to make it 1-1 at the Theatre of Dreams.

Just before half time Roberto Firmino headed home at the near post from a Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross to put the Reds 2-1 ahead.

The action did not stop during the second half as Firmino pounced a rebounded shot from Alexander-Arnold's to make it 3-1 two minutes after the restart.

Marcus Rashford brought United back into the game in the 68th minute after his clever finish beat Alisson Becker in goal to make it 3-2.

The tie was put to bed in the 90th minute as Mohamed salah broke loose to face Dean Henderson one-on-one and sealed the win in emphatic style. 4-2 was the score.

Liverpool still have a game at hand and need to win their remaining four matches to stand a chance of playing in the Champions League next season.

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that the rescheduled Premier League clash between arch-rivals Manchester United and Liverpool has been rocked with more protests as fans chant 'Glazers Out'.

Manchester United fans have continued to call for the exit of the club owners following their role in the European League.

The Red Devils, along with eleven other elite clubs in Europe, earlier announced a breakaway competition, although the six English teams involved have withdrawn.
