Earlier on the same day, a similar report was made at the Achimota Police Station by a complainant around 11:23 pm.

The complainant was stopped by three policemen at the Atomic-Madina road at Hatsoo while driving an unregistered Mercedez Benz.

The policemen searched his car, after which he was arrested on the grounds of being a cyber fraudster.

“He was then escorted to Silver Star Towers at Airport and forced to withdraw a sum of GHC 20,000 from his ATM for them,” a release from the police stated.

The Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Afful Boakye Yiadom said: "The command will not shield any police personnel who use the uniform to perpetrate a crime against members of society.”

In a separate development, armed police officers stormed a press conference by a pro-NPP group calling itself—'Movement for Bawumia’.

According to a report sighted on Starrfm.com.gh, the presser was scheduled for 12 noon on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

“I don’t really know why the police and the national security will come in to stop us. I have been told to report to the regional deputy commander which I will do after speaking to you,” he said.
