Linnea Schmelzer quit her job and dumped her boyfriend of five years to move into a van with her German Shepherd named Akela.

The 26-year-old from Wisconsin spent KSh 800,000 renovating the van where she could reside with her dog.

After putting all things in order, Schmelzer quit her job as a field instructor and started her own online health business.

Fulfilling life

Schmelzer said she was happy at her previous workplace and was keen on building her relationship with the ex-boyfriend. However, she yearned for something more.

"I was seeking more depth, purpose, travels and experiences, so I decided to get the van,” she said.

Dumping boyfriend

Schmelzer further divulged that she had envisioned spending the rest of her life with her former boyfriend, but it did not happen.

"Our decision was mutual, and we are still very close friends," said the nomad.

Building van

Schmelzer bought the van in May 2020 and started turning it into a home she could live in.

She singlehandedly did most of the work on the van, which boasts of electricity, cabinets and a bed just like normal homes.

However, due to the vehicle’s confined space, Schmelzer did not install a shower or toilet.

Protective

Schmelzer let on that she feels safe with Akela because she is protective and warns her of approaching danger.

The young lady has no plans of giving up the nomad lifestyle any time soon.

In other news, it was reported that a woman landed herself in trouble after an April Fool’s Day prank on her boyfriend backfired.

The lady informed her boyfriend that she was in love with another man. He was unhappy with the news but accepted the reality.

After noticing he was serious about separating, she informed him it was a joke, but he had already made up his mind to leave her.
