Nana Yaa Anamah II, the queen mother of the Akyem Asuom in the Kwaebibirem District of the Eastern Region has been recognized as the longest serving queen mother of the Akyem Abuakwa State.
According to a research conducted by the the Okyehemaa, Nana Adutwumwaa Dokuaa, the Akyem Asuom queen mother has served her people for over 70 years.
The Okyehemaa in a press statement, revealed that Nana Yaa Anamah II has ruled over the Akyem Asuom area for 75 years, nearly a lifetime of service which is very rare.
As such, a durbar has been scheduled for October 28 to honor the queen mother who is said to be over 100 years old, for her long service to her people.
According to a MyJoyOnline.com report, the theme of the durbar is “Celebrating a Traditional Leadership of Excellence, the Role of Women in modern Chieftaincy.”
Among the expected dignitaries to grace the event are His Excellency, President Nana Akufo-Addo and his wife, Her Excellency, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo Addo, former President, Jerry John Rawlings and his wife Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings.
Also expected to attend the durbar are His Royal Majesty, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II, Okyenhene of Akyem Abuakwa State, Her Royal Majesty, Nana Adutwumwaa Dokua, Okyehemaa as well as, the Queen mothers of Akyem Abuakwa, the Asuomhene, Osabarima Ofosuhene Apenteng II; the Ministers and Members of Parliament.
