According to Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng, Burniton Music Group's Head of PR, Stonebwoy was contracted by organisers of the Africa Prosperity Dialogue to record and perform the song while Otchere-Darko handled the writing.
She made the disclosure during an interview on Adom TV where she answered questions about her artiste's political affiliation.
Stonebwoy had come under fire on social media after claiming that his Jejereje song contributed to the NDC's victory in the 2024 election.
Addressing the audience, including President John Mahama, at the March 20, 2026, fundraiser for the Black Stars, the Afro dancehall originator stated he dropped the song at the time because he believed in the NDC's reset agenda.
“When we talk about contributions, I believe that my contribution has been very significant in winning power for the NDC."
“I did it [released the song] mainly because I am somebody who really believes in reset. So, in my own judgment, I made sure that the music was dropped at a moment when there was some ease in the system because it was very tense,” he explained.

KOKA blasts Stonebwoy over Jejereje-NDC claim
Stonebwoy's statements triggered backlash from both the NDC and NPP. While the NDC supporters found it hard to believe he had supported their campaign because of his seeming closeness to actors in Akufo-Addo's government, some NPP folks felt he had betrayed their party.
Entertainment personality and NPP activist, Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu, simply known as KOKA, is one of those disappointed by Stonebwoy's claims.
In a video, KOKA, who described Stonebwoy as a "hypocrite", stated that he deleted the songs and all content related to Stonebwoy from his phone.
He further called for other NPP supporters to do the same and boycott Stonebwoy.
KOKA's criticism drew a quick response from Stonebwoy, who came with a reply under the post, denying the claims.
According to Stonebwoy, who hugged Shatta Wale at the fundraiser, KOKA was already not a fan of his and had disliked him for a long time.
He further dared KOKA to mention the exact support NPP gave him as an artiste that makes him ungrateful.

Why was Stonebwoy associated with NPP?
Addressing the backlash on Adom Show Tyme with Sally Mann, Stonebwoy's spokesperson attributed the constant association of the Afro dancehall originator with the NPP to the song he did for Gabby Otchere-Darko's outfit.
However, she pointed out that it was not in any way an endorsement of NPP, but a work collaboration borne out of contractual obligations.

"They think Stonebwoy is NPP because of that song...but it is worth noting that Africa Prosperity Dialogue commissioned Stonebwoy to do a song for them, and Gabby Otchere-Darko wrote that song. He did the song because he wanted Africa's progress and wanted to showcase what the continent has," she said.

Stonebwoy subsequently went on to perform the development-themed track at a gathering of African leaders held in Ghana at the Africa Prosperity Dialogue, which was championed by Otchere-Darko, a leading figure in NPP.
